His after party — for his after life

Monica | My Life | Thursday, 31 July 2008

If you’ve been following at all — you know that recently I lost one of the GREATEST influences in my life, my grandfather.

Here is a short video that I smuggled (family didn’t want me to tape…shhhhh!!) to show you how awesome his gathering was. I wish I could’ve gotten more — but, like I said, it was  covert operation witnessed by only a few willing to participate!

My tribute to My Tata….

Monica | My Life | Wednesday, 30 July 2008

My Tata loved drinking “40’s”

In his honor, after his burial — a few of us gathered to toast to him.

And the man himself…years ago…

Preparing for the Farewell –

Monica | My Life | Monday, 28 July 2008

In Tucson, life (and the reality of death) has taken hold of our household. Rainbows of emotion filter through the walls, stinging our souls, piercing our memories.

It’s funny cause the saddness that looms is graced with laughter over old photos, reminders of old hairstyles and the strangest ideas of what exactly we think “he’d want.”

Food is everywhere — hand delivered from every neighbor and friend — some is left on the doorstep, some brought directly inside. Some food bought, some food made…All food ate!

Soon my Dad will be in town, along with my ex husband, distant cousins and relatives of which I’ve never met. My Dad is a pall bearer alongside my ex, truly exemplifying the barriers that are sealed in the face of tremendous loss.

An interview posted by Ian Fernando

First of all, thank you for your thoughts and prayers — everyone.

I have not left California yet, I’ll be leaving on Sunday. The “rosary” (for any traditional catholics out there) is on Tuesday evening, funeral Wed. morning.

Again, for those of you who have emailed, commented or just sent good vibes my direction — THANK YOU!!!!

Before my loss, Ian Fernando interviewed me on the happenings while on TAC and Monica Durazo dot Com. It’s a fun, personal interview podcast that I hope you check out.

Also, give him a shout. He is suuuper cool. From Jersey, Ian is a stud with a keen eye for affiliate marketing, street sense and looks to match.

Ian is the best! THE VERY BEST! Thanks Ian.

I will be away. My grandfather died.

Monica | My Life | Thursday, 24 July 2008

No one can know how the impact one person can make on another’s life. Unless, of course, you are the impacted person.

Tonight, my grandpa, MY TATA (as I have always called him) passed away.

He was not only my rock, my shield, THE stongest man in my life — but he was the family anchor. Giving us definition, purpose and molding us into the the unbreakable force my family now is. If the family gathered, my Tata was the center. He was father to everyone — niece, grandson, cousin — he played “DAD.” His love was immeasurable.

To those of you that knew him, you know the love I’m talking about. He never turned anyone away. He is the only person I know that only saw the good, and never the bad, in any of us.

I’m sad because he is gone. — I cry because I miss him. I’m happy cause he’s released from this toxic world.

I move on Saturday and leave for Arizona on Sunday. I will try to write or “vlog” soon.

Thanks for everything! ;o)
Monica.

Adios, Pop Tarts!

…so bout this hands free law.

Monica | My Life | Wednesday, 23 July 2008

While in Nebraska, this “hands free” law began here in Cali. Basically, you can’t drive while on the cell phone IF you have to hold the cell to talk. Anyway, devices like the “bluetooth” are being seen everywhere now. I finally, FINALLY gave in today and bought myself one.

—I was just leaving the gym — You know you dig the hair!!! ;o)

So where was I yesterday?

Monica | My Life | Wednesday, 23 July 2008

Not writing…thats where.

Been busy lately. Today was fun, was interviewed by Ian Fernando regarding TAC and this new “blog.” My answers to his questions were so damn cheesy!!! ah! oh well. Luckily, (though from Jersey…inside joke) Ian is one of those people that can make kicking cans in Kansas fun. ;o) Be sure to check that interview out in the next couple of days.

DISCLAIMER::: I LOVE JERSEY AND KANSAS. No hate mail, please.

Other than that, gave the official notice to my current employer. Start work with the new “Doc” next week, have an “audition - interview” tomorrow for a documentary and met a pretty “interesting” (I’ll leave it at that) friend (I’ll also leave that AT THAT) the other day.

Well, it’s another Devin Hunter — video!

Monica | Top Affiliate Challenges... ;o) | Monday, 21 July 2008

….Visit Devin Hunter, cause I literally keep stealing his videos and the least I can do is send him some traffic!!!

Thanks Devin. I miss the old days. Wonder when our TAC affinity will die?

The SUN came out!

Monica | My Life | Monday, 21 July 2008

If yesterday was stop.

Today was go.

I laugh often at life. Just yesterday I cried from loneliness, bitched to best friend and threw my own full blown pity party. Yet today, complete 180.

So went back to work today — FELT SOOOO GOOD! Think it was just the familiairity that made me feel more secure. Whatever it was, I’m glad it was.

Then met my friend Jeff for lunch. This random friend is truly a gem. He, himself has made a VERY successful career in entertainment — yet is so dedicated to ensuring our friendship remains. It was one of those lunches that is filled with so much conversation — lunch itself fell to the wayside.

So then WHILE at lunch — a close doctor friend of mine called me offering me
1. Dinner
2. A better paying job!

Are you kidding me!?

SOOOO met him and his office manager for dinner. He’s offering me a significant amount more than I make now, plus some. It was almost unreal. My hesitation to take the position comes from the loyalty I feel towards the company I am with now — and my supervisor, who is practically a second mom to me. Besides that…working for a friend? eh. Kinda iffy.

Anyway, to top off the day — my apartment complex has released me from my lease…My new apartment complex approved me in a day — and I FINALLY WENT BACK TO THE GYM!

When Little Annie sang about the sun coming out tomorrow — she was so right. G’night.
